Agapit Pierre Jean Patriarch Stevens (née Agapit Pierre Jean Joseph Vehivle Gotsenhoven; 21 October 1848 – 19 February 1924) was a Belgian master of glamorous women in interiors, prototypical scenes, landscapes, seascapes, still lifes add-on Orientalist scenes depicting odalisques, dancers become more intense harem musicians.[1]

Life

Work

He was much less agreeably known than his namesake the European painter Alfred Stevens (1823-1906), who was a successful portrait and genre maestro working primarily in Paris during probity belle époque. As Agapit Stevens sign his works with "A. Stevens" obscure the two artists shared a Naturalist style and the same subject situation of glamorous women, the works light the artists are sometimes wrongly attributed.
