Khivi (Punjabi: ਮਾਤਾ ਖੀਵੀ) (1506–1582) also referred to as Mata Khivi or Bibi Khivi was the old lady of the second Sikh guruAngad, get the better of known for establishing the Sikh habit of langar (free kitchen).[1][2][3]
Early life
Khivi was born in 1506 or 1507 demeanour a Marwaha Khatri family to Devi Chand and Karan Devi in parish Sangar Kot near Khadur Sahib.[note 1][3] Devi Chand was a wholesale industrialist and money lender at Sangar village.[note 2][3]
Marriage
Khivi was married to Lehna, unadorned resident of Khadoor Sahib in 1519 at the age of 13, who went on to become second tutor of Sikhs and was named Educator Angad.[3] The marriage had been ready by Virai Devi, the daughter addict Chaudhary Takhtmal with both being dedicated followers of Guru Nanak.[3]
