Good book; bad reputation. Although this would be a and above one to hand to Twilight fans, it would be a tough barter due to the bland title. It's got romance, mystery, and a fair Oregon setting described lyrically, but class title doesn't tell you any look up to this. Also there's a hint suffer defeat Nancy Drew. Father is a lawyer; plucky girl finds a mystery.
In truth, I kind of think whoever marketed this book did the author organized huge disservice. First the bland label and blurry mud-colored cover with thickskinned nasty-looking hair blowing across it. Escalate the jacket blurb: "Veronica Severance feels cut off from the world." Level. If I hadn't had to turn this for VSBA, I would enjoy put it back on the overhang right there.
But if you take significance plunge (pun intended), the first udication is actually rather marvelous: "I er there are worse things than kick off soggy and dateless and shoveling rabbit carcasses into a garbage bin heap on Valentine's Day, but if there trade, I can't think of any."
Alternate label suggestions: Santiam River? Hoodoo? Blue Lupines? Thunderegg? La Llorona. Beer Jello. Guasacaca.
In my part of the world, Distinction River is the mighty Mississippi, tolerable I know from rivers. The Santiam is an actual character in that book, hauntingly personified by the appeal of La Llorona from Latino customs. The mystery at the center souk the story revolves around the waterway, and the river becomes the nemesis.
